Wow, back–to–back Legislative Councils this month! My report for our January 21st Council session is available here, although there aren’t too many major changes since last week. A few things of note:
Reimagining the McGill Bookstore
As you may have heard, the McGill Bookstore will be moving by 2016 and the university is gathering feedback on the role and appearance of their retail services on–campus. I participated in a focus group on the changes and will be part of an advisory group involved in the planning process. You can share your feedback on the future of the Bookstore through the online survey.
Arts Peer–to–Peer Research Symposium
This exciting showcase of undergraduate research presenters will be happening the evenings of February 3rd, 4th, 5th & 9th in Arts 160. Check out the Facebook event for the full schedule of talks.
Arts Undergraduate Research Database
I am currently assisting the Student Research Initiative and CaPS in creating a database of Arts undergraduate research opportunities, similar to something that currently exists for the Faculty of Science. We feel that this will help students by centralizing information on Arts undergraduate research, but also streamline the process for Professors who regularly hire Research Assistants.
AUTS Presents: CHICAGO the Musical!
The Arts Undergraduate Theatre Society is presenting CHICAGO! The 1975 Kander and Ebb musical that follows the stories of vaudevillian murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart. The show dates are January 22–24, 29–31 @ 7:30pm in Moyse Hall in the Arts Building, and tickets are available for purchase or reservation at autsmcgill.com. I hope that you will join me in attending this fantastic production!
