Life For Rent

The Apartment

Dear Fellow Arts Students,

I am taking a study break to write this blog post, because that is what I love doing. My life isn’t for rent; I own it. And you should own yours, too.

Yes, I’ve been listening to Dido while I study.

Here’s what happens when you take a few days off from AUS work: you come to the office, and you find five letters. Two from ADP, one from Revenu Quebec, one from Canada Revenue Agency, and one invoice. All specifically addressed to “Samuel Higgs”. It is the single scariest thing that has happened to me recently. All I can do is hope that it is good news (thankfully, it was, this time).

The Snax hiring process is complete. Thank you to all those who applied, and I am sorry to those who did not get the job, or did not even get a chance to interview. The hiring process for Snax is actually very competitive (around 80 applications for just a few positions). I guess it is a testament to how much people love Snax.

In one sense, things are really starting to wrap up for my term. In another sense, there is still plenty of work to do. Our audit is coming up, and we will actually have two audits this year: one for fiscal year 2014, and one for the month of April 2014 on account of AUS changing its fiscal year end date from March 31 to April 30.

If you see the budget  I presented to AUS Council on April 9, be aware that the numbers are not final. April is a somewhat busy month for transactions, so I will post a complete budget in May.

Now it’s back to the books for me.

Wishing you all the best,

Sam.
