Spring in the VP Academic Portfolio

webmaster Updates

It’s actually getting warmer out there! I recommended that we hold AUS Council outside this week, but that didn’t quite fly. Regardless, please take a look at my March 11th report if you’re so inclined.

Memorandum of Agreement Negotiations & AUS SNAX

The AUS Executive has released a statement regarding our ongoing negotiations for a new Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with McGill University, particularly as this relates to AUS SNAX. A sit-in event was also held on March 11th for students to show their support for SNAX selling sandwiches. If you’re concerned in any way about this situation, I would encourage you to send your thoughts to the Deputy Provost (Student Life & Learning) at ollivier.dyens@mcgill.ca.

Arts Student Employment Fund Summer Allocations

The ASEF Committee met before the Reading Break to decide on its Summer 2015 allocations for some exciting student employment projects. These were approved by AUS Council on March 11th, and are available on the website here. Look out for job postings for Arts undergraduate opportunities with the following units:

  • Career Planning Service (CaPS)
  • Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E)
  • Institute for Health & Social Policy (IHSP)
  • Arts OASIS
  • Social Equity & Diversity Education (SEDE) Office
  • Teaching & Learning Services (TLS)
  • McGill Visual Arts Collection (VAC)

Teaching Award & Valedictorian Selections

Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination for the AUS Teaching Awards or applied to be one of the Arts Valedictorians. The selection committees will be meeting in the coming weeks to make some difficult decisions. We wish all individuals the best of luck and congratulate you on your accomplishments.
